Meet the Little Family!

We’ve been in contact with a few members of the Little Family, who lived in the House starting in the 50s.  In a previous post, we shared Leslie’s memories of scratching names into the sidewalk.  Today, Leslie’s Dad Roger, started emailing what will be a series of memory posts.

Here’s Roger’s introduction to The Little Years:

“Albert (Jack) John Little and his wife (Mabel) arrived in Fruita in April of 1946. They had moved to Fruita as Mr. Little had been asked by some investors to facilitate and manage a new bank. Fruita did not have a bank at the time so Fruita State Bank was born. After renting for some time, Mr. and Mrs. Little purchased the home at 404 East Aspen from the Von Burgs. The purchase was completed on December 12, 1950. Two children were still at home at that time, Roger and Virginia, both of whom attended Fruita schools. Roger graduated from Fruita Union High School in the spring of 1950 and Virginia graduated also from FUHS in the spring of 1952. The Littles lived in the home for 28 years, selling it on February 15, 1978. The selling price was $39,500.00. One can imagine the Littles and their children and families have many fond memories of the home and family related activities that occurred there. These memories will be the topics of several future articles which are being written. Leslie (daughter of Roger and LuAnn, who presently live in Grand Junction) has already shared some of her memories. Son Mitch has submitted his memories and they will featured shortly.”

We feel so fortunate the Littles are sharing memories of the House with all of us.  Stay tuned for Mitch’s Memories later this week!  Roger tells me there will be many more installments as well as pictures and his Mom Mabel’s recipe for Christmas Casserole.  This House has been loved indeed.  ❤
